We specialize in restoring and refurbishing  older, neglected decks, No deck is too small, no deck project too big. Deck pressure washing is a skill many have not mastered. Many handymen, painters (with all good intentions) believe  using high pressure  is necessary to l clean and restore a deck -  Unfortunately, paint stores, and home improvement stores misinform those starting out, or those lacking experience.  We want to dispel that myth!  Please remember when dealing with decks - the less pressure the better.  We will NEVER use more pressure than is necessary for your wood deck species. The easiest way to wreak havoc on a deck is by using too much pressure! We will also NEVER use a rotary-surface cleaner on your deck. Again, many contractors, handymen, painters use rotary surface cleaners on their customer's  decks (in order to save time) coupled with too much pressure wind up  causing major damage that we wind up having to rectify.
The biggest damage an unskilled painter, or inexperienced handyman can do is use bleach on a deck to clean it.  Painters are notorious for using bleach & TSP to clean decks - TSP is very harmful to streams and rivers (fish)  and bleach is the worst product to use on wood  as it destroys lignin (the glue that holds wood together) . Many times painters will use bleach to mask  remaining dirt, and mildew after a quick pressure wash - and not clean the deck thoroughly.  Bleach does not equal brightener. They're two different animals - Chlorine bleach destroys lignin, a component of wood that hardens and strengthens the cell walls. Once the surface cellular structure loses its integrity then wood has lost its ability to retain stain, its ability for proper adhesion or penetration of coatings and thereby having coating failure in short order.....   Using a  brightener balances wood's PH,  brings back the wood grain structure evens out the wood tone, and causes zero damage.  Brighteners open up the pores of the wood to allow better stain penetration as well as better coating adhesion....Please be aware of the difference between using a proper biodegradable cleaner along with a wood brightener versus applying bleach to a deck . Bleach in the wrong hands can cause irreparable damage to your deck, and will severely shorten the life of the stain and sealer applied after it.

To be clear these  aren't scare tactics, unfortunately over the years we've come across more, and more  instances of sub-par preparation, deck and fence damage as more, and more  handymen, painters  jump into the deck restoration & refurbishing pool with little to zero experience.

Q- Will I need to be home?
A: No, you don’t need to be home for your deck pressure washing.
Q- How long will the pressure washing of my deck take?
A: Depends on your type of deck. If your deck has a solid stain pressure washing usually takes 1-2 hours. If your deck has an oil based semi-transparent it can take 2-3 hours to pressure wash it.
Q: Do we need to move the furniture?
A: We would prefer you move your own furniture as there are always fragile items, especially planters. We can move furniture, plants for an extra fee.
Q: Are the chemicals you use to  pressure clean our deck toxic, or will they kill our plants, shrubs?
A: we use pet, plant safe chemicals whenever possible. In the case of stripping decks we use a mild caustic stripper which we pre/post treat adjacent shrubs, plants.
